Fadimata

Laraba asks questions in Hausa, and Haoua translates it into Djarma, the language that Fadimata speaks.

Fadimata, 25 years old, was in terrible pain for 2 days. She went to see a doctor... 10 days later, after hard labor, her baby died and she had a fistula. This was her 5th baby that died in childbirth. Her husband sent her away and she returned to her parent's home. She stayed there for some time and then her father decided to move to Niamey and find a new husband for Fadimata. In time, she married again, became pregnant and gave birth to a live baby. But she still had fistula! Having heard about the American doctors, Fadimata's husband brought her to the National Hospital for help. He comes everyday to visit her - and will soon be taking her home, thanks to Dr. Abdoulaye and IOWD's Dr. Saifuddin Mama.
