Oumou

Oumou B. is 27 years old. She has one live child. With her 2nd pregnancy, she was in labor for 2 days. After the birth of a still born, she began leaking. Her leg became became badly swollen as a blood clot had formed. Oumou came to the National Hospital in April for help ... she was put in a bed and given blood thinners. Still leaking, she was too ill to have surgery for the fistula repair. By June, Oumou was ready for Dr. Abdoulaye to perform surgery. Although her fistula had been repaired, Oumou had incontinence and needed a 2nd surgery for a "sling". As of April 2007, Oumou continues to be completely dry! She is waiting for her husband to come to the Hospital for a special counseling session with Dr. Abdoulaye. Oumou's story is a lovely one...the blood clot disappeared with medicines, her fistula has been repaired...and her husband cares enough to come for an educational counseling session with Dr. Abdoulaye! Soon, she will be on her way home with her husband and child. Oumou is looking forward to a normal and happy life once more!
